Volunteers with Moms and Neighbors wrapped gifts on Sunday afternoon. The organization, which helps families in School District 196, will provide Christmas gifts to 12 families and 16 teens throughout the school district.

The group aims to seek, through unexpected gifts, to give comfort and most importantly, defend the hope that all families facing hardship must have to not only persevere but also to thrive, according to their website.

Organizer Sara Haugland said the community stepped up in a big way to provide for the recipients, who were referred by school counselors and church representatives.
