Tubbs achieves Eagle Scout ranking

Jackson Thomas Tubbs, 18, of Coates has earned the highest achievement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout Award.

Tubbs was recognized in a ceremony Aug. 21, at Rosemount United Methodist Church.

A member of Rosemount United Methodist Church, Troop 295, Tubbs is one of approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank.

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church or synagogue-related service project to earn his Eagle. Tubbs chose to renovate a large storage space within RUMC. The space will be utilized by the church's Dance Ministry, Drama Ministry and NOW Team in providing a space for all their equipment.

He has served as senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, troop bugler, and other leadership posititions within the troop and received the Order of the Arrow, Brotherhood rank.

Tubbs is a member of Rosemount United Methodist Church and has been active in the youth programs. He has also been active in football, marching band and tennis at Rosemount High School, and was captain of the math team.

He is the son of Todd and Lisa Tubbs of Coates.
