Wrestlers start their state runs after successful individual section tournament

After the Rosemount Irish wrestling team had a strong run in the individual sections, state qualifiers Phil Levine and Frank Pokriefka start their runs in the state tournament today.

Wrestling at 103 pounds, Levine will take to mat No. 7 at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul this afternoon, time is set for approximately 4 p.m.

The state meet continues through March 7.

Pokriefka, a heavyweight, will be wrestling on mat No. 6 at about 5:30 p.m.

The two each won their respective brackets at last week's Class 3A, Section 3 individual tournament.

Also placing at sections last week for the Irish were Adam Sommers, Josh Baier, and Garrett Bothun, who each finished third.

Tyler Sandoz placed fourth.

Steve Levine and Tony Marthaler placed fifth, and Paul Domeier and Josh Francois each finished in sixth place.
