Ozment open house

Former 37B State Representative Dennis Ozment will hold an appreciation open house at the Rosemount VFW Post 9433 Monday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

Friends, constituents and voters are encouraged to attend the thank you event that will include snacks, drinks and reminiscing.

February 2

Archery class at Lighthouse

Lighthouse Community Church will offer an eight week archery class to those 10 and older starting Monday, Feb. 2.

Centershot Ministries is a program geared to teach students of all ages the life-skill of archery while sharing the Gospel at the same time. Equipment is provided.

February 5

UMore open house

The University of Minnesota will host an open house Thursday, Feb. 5 to take comment on the proposed sand and gravel project at UMore Park. The open house will be in the Rosemount Community Center Ballroom from 6 to 8 p.m. A presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The university is undertaking a public process to evaluate opening a aggregate mine and ancillary operations on the western third of the 5,000 acre property.

February 8

St. Joseph's school registration

All families new to St. Joseph's School can register Sunday, Feb. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon at the new church. Families can register students for grades kindergarten through 8th.

Families registering for kindergarten should bring a copy of their child's birth certificate.

Mystery dinner auditions

Rosemount Area Arts Council will be holding auditions for their annual Murder Mystery Dinner Theater from 1 to 4 p.m. at their offices located at 14450 South Robert Trail, #203. Ages 18 + are welcome to attend. Show date is Friday, March, 20th. Contact with any questions.

February 9

Robert Trail Library opens

Dakota County will open the doors of the Robert Trail Library and License Center on Monday, Feb. 9.

The library will be open Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-8:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; and Sunday, 1-5 p.m.

The adjoining license center will open on Monday, Feb. 9 at 8:30 a.m. The center will accept homestead applications, issue birth and death certificates, take passport photos and transfer vehicle titles. The last day of license service at City Hall will be Thursday, Feb. 5.

Business hours for the license center are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

February 12

Grand opening for library

An opening ceremony will be held at the Robert Trail Library and License Center Thursday, Feb. 12 at 4:30 p.m. Mayor Bill Droste and Dakota County Commissioner Will Branning will speak during the open house. Cake and punch will be served.

February 13

Teen night

Rosemount youth in grades 6-8 who attend school in Rosemount or live within Rosemount city boundaries are invited to attend the monthly-supervised teen nights at the Rosemount Community Center. Teen Night is a safe environment where youth can socialize and interact with each other in a positive way. Activities include music, games, and open gym.

The next teen night is Friday, Feb. 13 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Rosemount Community Center. Cost is $2.

Every participant must have a parent authorization/emergency contact form on file in order to attend Teen Night. A new form must be completed each school year.

Parent Authorization Forms are available at the Rosemount Middle School office, the Rosemount Parks and Recreation office, or the night of the event.

February 14

Pancake breakfast

St. Joseph Catholic Church is sending 30 teens to West Virginia in July for their Youth Mission Trip.The group of young men and women will be helping people in rural Appalachia in one of the poorest parts of the country. To help raise money to send these students, St. Joe's is holding a pancake breakfast on Saturday Feb. 14 from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Rosemount Applebee's. Cost is $6.
