Sterner wins 37B seat

Rosemount resident Phillip Sterner won the Minnesota 37B House of Representatives seat. With all precincts reporting Sterner received 12,668 votes while Republican candidate Judy Lindsay, also from Rosemount, received 11,388 votes. Write-in candidate Kurt Hansen, of Rosemount, received 248 votes.

With 53 percent of the votes Sterner will take over the seat from longtime representative Dennis Ozment. Ozment announced his retirement earlier this year after serving 12 terms.

After learning of his win late Tuesday night Sterner said he was excited to serve the residents of Apple Valley and Rosemount.

"I want to thank the voters and campaign workers who supported me. I will do my best to serve them in St. Paul," said Sterner.

Sterner celebrated his win at Carbone's Pizza in downtown Rosemount surrounded by his family.
