Marching band takes fourth at St. Louis regional

It was a big weekend for the Rosemount High School marching band. The Irish took fourth place among 55 bands at the Bands of America Super Regional Band Championships held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Mo.

Rosemount, which finished third in the same competition last year, was third in the preliminary competition but in the finals came in behind Broken Arrow High School from Oklahoma, Marian Catholic High School from Illinois and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School from Kentucky.

Broken Arrow was the 2007 Bands of America national champion and is a six-time regional champion. Marion Catholic is a seven-time national champion and Dunbar is a three-time regional champion.

Bands of America runs 20 regional competitions. The St. Louis regional is their largest event outside of November's Grand Nationals.

There were bands from 14 states competing in St. Louis. Irondale was the only other Minnesota band to qualify for finals. They finished fifth.
