2 have filed for city council

The clock is winding down on those who want to run for the two open city council seats. Rosemount residents have until 5 p.m. Sept. 9 to file at city hall. So far only two people have done so, Kevin Grass and Conni Jensen.

The two open seats are currently held by Phillip Sterner and Mike Baxter. Baxter has said he will run again although he has not filed yet. Sterner is running for the State House of Representatives 37B seat, so he will not try to reclaim the position.

Residents interested in running for city council need to fill out an affidavit of candidacy and pay a $5 filing fee. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, have no other affidavit for election on file and must have lived in Rosemount for 30 days.

The top two vote getters Nov. 4 will win the two open seats. For more information on filing for an open city council seat visit
