Film festival deadline is June 15

The Rosemount Area Arts Council is looking for people with a video camera and something to say.

The arts council is currently accepting entries for its first major project, the Shamrock Film Festival.

The short-film festival, scheduled to take place July 18 during Leprechaun Days, is open to all Minnesota residents. There will be prizes awarded to the best films.

"Everyone loves the movies, and film festivals are becoming more and more popular for finding new talent," said Beth Adams, the RAAC's program committee chair. "We either drive to the theater or rent movies on a regular basis because they entertain and inspire us."

There is a 12-minutes limit on all entries and films should be appropriate for a community audience.

Filmmakers can also submit a trailer of up to three minutes. All entries will be judged prior to the festival on the basis of editing, scriptwriting and direction. There will be a separate award for the best-produced trailer.

The deadline for entertaining films is June 15.
