Strength team brings a message of faith to Lighthouse Church

God's message can be spread in a variety of ways. Say, for instance, through four very large men who can bend steal bars with their hands and break bricks with various body parts.

Members of Mike Hagen's Strength Team will perform feats of strength for five nights at Lighthouse Community Church in Rosemount. The Strength Team is a group of world class athletes who impress with their physical prowess and inspire with their message of hope and faith.

Four members of the 16 member team will set up shop at Lighthouse March 5 through the 9. The four members will be Clarence Lee, Justin Schnieders, Andre Jiminez and Andy Gavin.

While it may not seem all that holy to be bending and breaking stuff, the relationship these men have with the man upstairs is real and through their show they reveal that even a man who can rip a phone book in half needs faith.

Lighthouse's normally peaceful worship center will be transformed into a frying pan's worst nightmare when the team comes to town. They bend frying pans to look like tacos.

After the four men demonstrate their incredible physical strength, they share the secret to their spiritual strength. Lighthouse senior pastor Bill Goodwin said the men have powerful stories of trials, tribulations and hope.

"It's a good way to open the door for people," Goodwin said of the show. "They get the same message just in a different package."

As a friend of Goodwin's Strength Team member Clarence Lee has visited Rosemount before. The two men have talked for some time about bringing more members of the team to town for a show, Goodwin said.

"We felt like this is the right time and we are excited to be able to offer this to the community," Goodwin said.

So all in the community can attend the special event, Goodwin said there will be no charge for admittance. Goodwin said they hope families will come out and enjoy a free night of fun.

"It's good for little kids; it's not violent," Goodwin said.

In addition to their five shows at the church, the team also will visit several Twin Cities schools including St. Joseph's Catholic School. At schools the team members emphasize the importance of education and hard work, according to a press release from the team.

Lighthouse Church, 3285 144th Street W., will host the Strength Team March 5 through the 9. Shows will start at 7 p.m. nightly. Admittance is free. A free will offering will be accepted.
