Members of the University of Minnesota Gopher football team competed in last year's Leprechaun Days bathtub races.

Leprechaun Days, Rosemount's annual 10-day celebration of summer fun, got under way at 9:30 a.m. Friday with the first show of the parks and recreation department's Puppets in the Park.

Activities continue through the weekend with the Saturday Morning Run for the Gold and the 11 a.m. parade. Sunday brings a kiddie parade and Rosemount police officer Jason Waage's attempt to pull a Rosemount fire truck.

The rest of the week will be filled with popular events like Tuesday night's bathtub races, Wednesday's wet 'n' wild day, Thursday's youth fishing derby and next weekend's Midsummer Faire at Central Park.
