July 24

Puppets in the park

The Rosemount Parks and Recreation department will have Puppets in the Parks Friday, July 24. For further information call Rosemount Parks and Recreation at 651-322-6000.

Puppets will be in the following parks at these times: Camfield Park, 9:30 a.m.; Connemara Park, 10:15 a.m.; Bloomfield Park 11 a.m. and Jaycee Park 11:45 a.m.

Dungeons and Dragons

The Robert Trail Library will host Dungeons and Dragons games from 1 to 3 p.m. July 24.  D&D is a fantasy role playing game that is fun for boys and girls.  The D&D game, as a role-playing game, is a fantasy game of your imagination. It's part acting, part storytelling, part social interaction, part war game and part dice rolling. You create characters that develop and grow with each adventure they complete. One player is the Dungeon Master. The DM controls the monsters and enemies, narrates the action, referees the game and sets up the adventure. Together, the Dungeon Master and the players make the game come alive.  Our DM will be librarian Ron Hauser who has been playing D&D for more than 20 years.  All middle and high schoolers are invited to come participate for one or more days.

There will be refreshments provided.

Mid Summer Faire

The Mid Summer Faire will begin Friday, July 24 and will run 5 to 11 p.m. in Central Park. The fair will include food vendors, beer garden, rides and entertainment.

Tim Mahoney

Minnesota musician Tim Mahoney will perform at the Central Park Amphitheater 7 to 11 p.m. Friday, July 24.

July 25

Leprechaun Days parade

The Leprechaun Days Parade will begin 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25 downtown Rosemount.

The parade will feature grand marshals Kay McDaniel (Heim) and Niklas Nelson.

City council members will collect food donations for local food shelves along the parade route.

Lightin' Up block party

Lighthouse Church will host its annual family block party after the parade Saturday, July 25. The free event will include live music, kids games, pony rides, a petting zoo, inflatables and food. Lighthouse is located at 3285 144th St. W.

Rods and Wrecks car show

AAA Auto Salvage will host its second annual Rods and Wrecks car show 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 25.

In addition to the car show the event will feature guided tours of AAA Auto Salvage, Better Bumper Company and U Pull R Parts, car recycling demonstrations including the car crusher, and demonstrations from the Rosemount Police Department. Concessions will also be available.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Rosemount Police Department to buy new surveillance equipment.

AAA Auto Salvage is located at 2871 160th St.

Mid Summer Faire

The Mid Summer Fair will continue Saturday, July 25 and will run 1 to 11 p.m. in Central Park. The fair will include food vendors, beer garden, rides and entertainment.

High and Mighty

The band High and Mighty will perform Saturday, July 25 at the Central Park Amphitheater 7 to 11 p.m.


Fireworks will be lit off over Central Park at 10 p.m. Saturday, July 25.

July 26

New Direction Christian Church

On Sunday, July 26, 2009 at 3 p.m., New Direction Christian Church will have the installation service for new pastor Mark A. Dawkins.

The service will be officiated by Dr. Earl F. Miller. The guest speaker at the 10 a.m. worship service will be Reverend C.L. Banks. All are invited to attend.

Lighthouse breakfast

Lighthouse Church will hold a pancake breakfast and outdoor service Sunday, July 26. The breakfast will run from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The service will begin after breakfast.

RHS girls hockey skate

Girls under 14 can skate with the Rosemount High School girls hockey team and coaches 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Rosemount Community Center Arena.

Fly a kite

 Bring a kite and join the Kite Doctor and the Solid Kite Flying Club as they show and teach the art of kite flying noon to 6 p.m. July 26 at Spring Lake Park Reserve. Club members will assist novice kite flyers with tips on building, repairing and flying kites. All ages. Adult must accompany youth 17 and under. One adult per four youth. Free, no registration required.

Tractor pull

Garden tractors weighing from 750-1200 lbs compete against tractors their own weight and horesepower to pull a "sled." After the tractor can move the sled no further, measurement of the distance is taken. Tractors with the longest distance pulled can win prizes in each class entered.

Open to all ages, men, women, children. Bring tractors to compete.

Weigh in and registration start at 10 a.m. Competition starts at 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Rosemount VFW.

July 29

Interview skills

Robert Trail Library will host a seminar on how to improve interviewing skills 1 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 29. Topics will includ types of interviews, common interview questions and how to avoid major blunders.

Tuesday in the Garden

The Dakota County Master Gardeners will offer classes every Tuesday evening 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. through the summer at 1605 160 St. W. in Rosemount.

The topic for July 29 will be Herbes de Provence, taught by Shari Mayer. Cost is $10.

July 31

Computer basics

Robert Trail Library will host Beyond Computer Basics 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, July 31.

This class will introduce students who have little or no experience with computers to the parts and uses of a home computer. The class will cover topics such as using the mouse and keyboard, as well as familiarize the student with basic computer terminology. Students will also be introduced to working with windows and toolbar menus.

No previous computer experience is necessary.
