RUMC garage sale

Rosemount UMC is holding it's semi-annual garage sale. The sale features clothing, toys, household items, books, furniture and many yet-to-be-discovered treasures. The sale dates and hours are Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, May 22 from 8 a.m. to noon. The Rosemount UMC is located at 14770 Canada Ave. W in Rosemount. Memorial Day celebration

The Rosemount VFW, American Legion and Vietnam Veterans of America and accompanying auxilaries will hold a Memorial Day program Monday morning in Central Park. The 34th Infantry Division band's wind ensemble will perform at 8:45 a.m. and the program will begin at 9 a.m.

After the formal program there will be a tour of local cemetaries with the color guard and rifle squad.

Tuesday Evening in the Garden

The Dakota County Master Gardeners will start their Tuesday Evenings in the Garden classes May 26.

The first topic will be Iris: A Kaleidoscope of Color. Lee Kaibel will teach the class.

The classes begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at 1605 160th St W (CR 46) in Rosemount.

Silver tea at Robert Trail library

The Robert Trail Library will host a "Silver Tea" event from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Wednesday May 27. The event is for the 55-plus crowd, and will feature The Gallivanters (an Irish folk band).

Relay for Life team captains

The Rosemount Relay for Life team captains will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at the Rosemount Middle School Library.

Adult high school graduation

District 196 Community Education Adult Basic Education will honor its 2009 graduates at a ceremony 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Grace Lutheran Church, 7800 West County Road 42 in Apple Valley. Superintendent John Currie will deliver the commencement address. The adult graduates range in age from 18 to almost 40 and have successfully completed their GED or diploma studies through District 196 Community Education ABE program. Free Will student music recital

First Stars Music Studios will host a Good old fashioned free spring music gathering for its students 7 p.m. at the Rosemount United Methodist Church Thursday, May 28.

Volunteens deadline at the library

The Robert Trail Library is looking for teenagers, 12 to 18, to volunteer at the library this summer. The responsibilities will be mostly to help sign up children for the summer reading club. We also will work on an origami project. Volunteens only need to work two hours a week and 12 hours for the whole summer. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 10 to 4. Applications are available at the library and must be returned by May 30. The mandatory training for the volunteers will be Saturday, May 30 from 2 to 3. It will be a great summer and hopefully we will have lots of volunteens.

Tuesday Evening in the Garden

The Dakota County Master Gardeners will hold their Tuesday Evenings in the Garden class June 2.

The topic will be Luscious Tomatoes, taught by David Zlesak.

Rosemount National Bank will host a free home buyer's workshop 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6.

RNB and Tim Petersen will help people access the correct tools, make the right decisions and gain the knowledge to buy a home.

Document destruction day

Rosemount National Bank will give residents the chance to destroy sensitive document such as old taxes and bank statements for free 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13 in the bank parking lot. Everyone is welcome.
