Gov. Tim Pawlenty named Rosemount Port Authority chair Mary Riley a finalist for the Metropolitan Council District 16 seat. The seat became vacant when Brian McDaniel announced his resignation late last year.
I read in the Jan. 24, 2008 StarTribune that Rosemount voters might be voting in April for an $8 million referendum to build the new athletic complex, put in tennis courts at Erickson Park and renovate the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Considering the fact that we are in a recession and that large amounts of taxpayer money is already being spent on downtown, I think these projects should be carefully considered before burdening the citizens of Rosemount with a tax increase.
