It’s another year, another state title for the Rosemount High School marching band.
One week after finishing fourth in the Bands of America Super Regional in St. Louis, the RHS band took its third consecutive title in the Youth in Music Marching Band Championships held Saturday at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
For this week's edition of the Rosemount Town Pages newspodcast we caught up with RHS senior Kevin Golla after a press conference held to officially introduce him as a member of the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Golla will perform with 100 other elite musicians at halftime of the All-American Bowl, a high school all star game that will take place Jan. 3 at the Alamodome in San Antonio. We also talked with RHS band director Steve Olsen, who nominated Golla for the award.
It was a big weekend for the Rosemount High School marching band. The Irish took fourth place among 55 bands at the Bands of America Super Regional Band Championships held at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Mo.
The Rosemount High School is packing up its annual Rosemount Marching Band Festival and moving it to the other end of the competition calendar.
For the past 18 years Rosemount’s competition was the last on the schedule in Minnesota. Over the years it became a kind of unofficial state championship, drawing some of the best bands in the state.
