Police will focus on railroads June 2 
Police officers from Farmington and Rosemount and deputies from the Dakota County Sheriff’s office will team up June 2 to crack down on people who don’t follow the rules around railroad tracks. The three departments will cooperate in a saturation effort aimed at people who drive around railroad stop arms or trespass along the tracks. The effort is organized by Operation Lifesaver, an international non-profit group established in 1972 to improve safety along railroad tracks.

Police chief hit the street Monday for seatbelt enforcement 
Rosemount police chief Gary Kalstabakken dusted off his patrol skills Monday afternoon in the name of keeping people safe on the roads.
Kalstabakken and other chiefs from Dakota County got behind the wheel for a special seatbelt enforcement effort from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, mostly along Highway 3.

A 22-year-old Burnsville man faces charges including drug possession and driving while impaired after a Rosemount police officer stopped him for speeding April 7.

Rosemount man charged with selling drugs 
The Dakota County Attorney’s office has filed felony drug charges against a 28-year-old Rosemount man after he reportedly sold methamphetamine to a police informant from his home.

Rosemount City Council members expressed concern last week after a fight outside Shenanigan's Pub ended with someone getting run over by a car, and the worry seems warranted. The May 7 incident was the second time in just a handful of months such a situation has occurred.

A 41-year-old Hastings man, Michael Frederick Schmidt, faces one felony count of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree after he allegedly sexually assaulted a nine-month-old girl April 24.
