A Retiree Appreciation Day will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at the Rosemount National Guard Armory and Community Center.
CW4 Barb Fici said the retirees or about to be retirees from all branches of the armed forces and their families members can attend.
Fifty-five Minnesota National Guard soldiers, including some from Rosemount, will leave Minnesota Sunday to train for a one-year deployment in Afghanistan.
There was a departure ceremony for the soldiers at 1 p.m. April 15 at the Rosemount Community Center.
There’s plenty of uncertainty when someone ships off to serve in a combat zone. Steven Dittrich hopes to provide a few answers.
Dittrich, a Rochester lawyer and a Major in the Army Reserve, will speak Jan. 12 at the Robert Trail Library about some of the legal issues that affect military personnel and their families, and about resources available to families who have a loved one serving overseas.
