After finishing with the best record in 14 years for a Rosemount girls hockey team, the Irish can’t get past the season-ending 6-1 loss to Burnsville, one game away from the state tournament.

An incomplete effort hurt the Rosemount girls hockey team at the worst possible time.
With a trip to the state tournament on the line, the Irish lost 6-1 to Burnsville in the Class 2A, Section 3 finals on Wednesday night at the Veteran’s Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights.

Girls hockey: Irish roll over Eagan in section, 5-1
The Rosemount High School girls hockey team is on a roll in the Section 3 playoffs. Three days after beating Park, 6-2, in the first round the Irish beat top seed Eagan, 5-1, at Veterans Memorial Arena in Inver Grove Heights.

Girls hockey: Rosemount knocks off ranked foes
The Rosemount girls hockey team didn’t have to validate its efforts earlier in the season to coach Tracy Cassano.
Cassano knew the Irish were playing well, even if a slew of close games were going to the other team. The coach knew her team would eventually have its luck turn around.

The Irish split a pair of games during the past week, losing 5-2 at Lakeville South before coming back with a 6-3 win at home against Lakeville North on Tuesday.

The Irish played five games in a nine-day stretch. They play three games in five days next week.
Of course, if more wins are coming, the hectic schedule will be easier to handle.

Girls hockey: Irish finally see the work pay off with ‘W’
Rosemount girls hockey coach Tracy Cassano felt her team was playing well recently, even if the final scores weren’t enough to get the team wins.
Cassano preached for the Irish to keep working and believed the results would eventually take care of themselves. She knew with the way Rosemount was playing, the wins would come.

Irish drop a pair
The Rosemount girls hockey team has lost three of its past four games after a pair of losses during the past week.
Late last week, the Irish dropped a 4-2 decision at Lakeville North. On Tuesday it was a 5-3 loss at home to Eden Prairie.

Cassano looking for consistency from 4-2-1 squad
Rosemount girls hockey coach Tracy Cassano has preached the importance of consistency to her squad.
It’s been a point of contention at times. Whether it be game-to-game or period-to-period, Cassano just wants complete efforts from the Irish.
The final scores haven’t been consistent.

Rosemount returns from layoff with 12-0 rout
After finishing up a 5-2 win against Apple Valley on Nov. 21, the Rosemount girls hockey team faced a stretch of nine days without games.
The break allowed the Irish to contemplate an inconsistent beginning of the season in which they went 2-1-1. The holiday offered a bit of rest as well.

Irish fall to Park, bounce back vs. Apple Valley
When the Rosemount girls hockey team opened the season with a home win against No. 10 White Bear Lake, the Irish were quickly demonstrating some of the potential coach Tracy Cassano believes her team has this season.
There was bound to be some bumps in the road and Rosemount has had to maneuver over some of those in the past two weeks.
