Grant will fund Americana festival 
The Rosemount Area Arts Council has picked up steam over the last couple of years planning events and offering opportunities for residents. The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council has taken notice and has awarded the young group a grant.

Kids’ classic comes to the stage
Nick Bockoven is usually a clean kid. He doesn’t like messes. But to play Pig-Pen, the famous Peanuts character, Bockoven is willing to get dirty.
“I like the fact that I can be him and be crazy,” said Bockoven, a 14-year-old Rosemount High School student.

Hear ghost stories Saturday at the library
When Robert Trail librarian Gladys Kim saw the Hastings Paranormal Team present last fall at the Hastings Library, she made a mental note that she wanted to bring the group to Rosemount sometime after the library opened.

Solve a murder, help the arts
The Rosemount Area Arts Council needs to raise some money. But it also wants to expose people to the arts. So it’s sponsoring its second Mystery Dinner Theater at 6 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Rosemount Community Center.

Fall play brings Holocaust history to life
The fall play at Rosemount High School is a little bit theater, a little bit history lesson. And director Thom Hoffman said it all comes together very well.

Rosemount residents can learn how to keep their families and homes safe during the fire department’s open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11.
Highlights include a demonstration of rescues by extrication from vehicle accidents. As part of the demonstration, the North Memorial air ambulance helicopter will arrive around 12:30 p.m.

Keillor vows he won’t be sidelined by stroke
Minnesota NewsThe Minnesota-born humorist and host of "A Prairie Home Companion" was admitted to a hospital Monday with what he's calling a minor stroke. His radio show will go on, though.

Family Fun Shoot: Kids can take aim at a good time
Rosemount area youngsters can learn to shoot a gun, climb a rock wall, fish with a bow or call ducks at the ninth annual Family Fun Shoot being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Dakota County Gun Club.

Bill Minnehan served five years on the Dakota County Agricultural Society, the board that runs the Dakota County Fair. His children showed at the fair for 30-some years before that.
