Grant will fund Americana festival PressPass

The Rosemount Area Arts Council has picked up steam over the last couple of years planning events and offering opportunities for residents. The Metropolitan Regional Arts Council has taken notice and has awarded the young group a grant.

Kids’ classic comes to the stage PressPass

Nick Bockoven is usually a clean kid. He doesn’t like messes. But to play Pig-Pen, the famous Peanuts character, Bockoven is willing to get dirty. “I like the fact that I can be him and be crazy,” said Bockoven, a 14-year-old Rosemount High School student.

Rosemount residents can learn how to keep their families and homes safe during the fire department’s open house 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 11. Highlights include a demonstration of rescues by extrication from vehicle accidents. As part of the demonstration, the North Memorial air ambulance helicopter will arrive around 12:30 p.m.

Rosemount area youngsters can learn to shoot a gun, climb a rock wall, fish with a bow or call ducks at the ninth annual Family Fun Shoot being held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 22 at the Dakota County Gun Club.
