Military notes 
Cadet Eric M Pittelkow Army ROTC Cadet Eric M. Pittelkow has received the Army ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) Superior Cadet Decoration Award. The award is presented to cadets who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities and academic performance cadet in each year of Military Science class studies at the host college, university, institution or extension centers. The cadet may wear the ribbon for one year after the presentation of the award. Pittelkow is the son of Eileen Reidy of Rosemount and a 2005 graduate of Rosemount High School. Cadet Brittney M Leary Army ROTC Cadet Brittney M. Leary has received the Reserve Officers Award. Cadets receiving the award must have demonstrated outstanding qualities of leadership, moral character, and a high aptitude for military service. She is the daughter of Kevin and Lisa Leary of Rosemount and a 2007 graduate of Rosemount High School.

Linley Nelson of Rosemount and Curtis Gabbert of Minneapolis have announced their engagement. Linley is the daughter of Darin and Mary Kate Nelson of Rosemount. She is a 2009 graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she earned a degree in elementary education with a minor in Spanish. She is a third grade teacher at Sky Oaks Elementary School in Burnsvile. The son of John and Lisa Gabbert of Rosemount, Curtis earned his degree in operations and supply chain from the Carlson School of Management in 2008. He is employed as a value stream supervisor at Anderson Windows in Stillwater. A Aug. 21, 2010 wedding is planned at Shepherd of the Valley in Apple Valley. A reception at the Hotel Millennium in Minneapolis will follow.
RELATED CONTENTSpeckel-Hudyma engagement 
Speckel-Hudyma Mike and Jane Speckel of Delano announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Speckel, to Derek Hudyma, son of Will and Marcia Hudyma of Rosemount. Sarah is a 2001 graduate of Delano High School, and a graduate of Winona State University. Derek graduated from Rosemount High School in 1996. He is also a graduate of Winona State University. An August, 2010 wedding is planned in Winona, Minn.
RELATED CONTENTConnor Carroll 
Connor Carroll was named a Founders Scholar at a recent Honors Convocation at the Bloomington campus of Indiana University. Students who have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.8 or more are eligible to become Founders Scholars. At a separate ceremony later that day, Connor was inducted into two academic honor societies, Phi Eta Sigma and Alpha Lambda Delta. He was also recently the recipient of the George Dixie Heighway Scholarship, which the Indiana University Foundation annually awards to an outstanding student who is actively involved in campus activities. Connor, a freshman majoring in jazz studies and economics, is the son of Kevin Carroll and Maureen Kelly-Carroll of Rosemount.

Reed Alan Roiger was born March 28 to Emily Zimmer and Ben Roiger of Northfield. At birth he weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and measured 21 1/2 inches long. His grand parents are Willy Zimmer and Ginger Davis, of Casper, Wyo., and Dave and Deb Roiger, of St. Cloud. Emily is employed with the Farmington Independent and Rosemount Town Pages.
RELATED CONTENTMilitary note: Pvt. Jonathan T. Myers 
Army Pvt. Jonathan T. Myers has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman. He is the son of Robert Myers of Rosemount, and a 2005 graduate of Rosemount High School.
