Cheryl Kluender wasn’t sure how much interest there would be in a watercolor painting class. So the Rosemount area artist was thrilled when she had to add a class to accommodate all the people who have signed up.
“I’m overwhelmed by the response. It’s going to be great,” said Kluender.
Kluender will teach watercolor classes from 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through March. She will work with beginners and advanced students. Classes will begin March 4.
The class will cover design, color and value. Kluender said she will begin by giving some demonstrations and then students will follow along. She hopes students will leave the class wanting to learn more about the medium.
The class is being offered through the Rosemount Area Arts Council. Kluender said going forward RAAC would like to offer a lot more classes in different art forms. Kluender said personally she’d like to offer acrylic and collage classes.
Currently Kluender has work on display at the Robert Trail Library and the Steeple Center. She encouraged anyone who is interested to check out her work to get a feel for what she does. Kluender has painted for a number of years and said she enjoys sharing her passion for the art form. Kluender is also an avid art collector.
The cost for the class is $40. Students will need to have the following supplies: four watercolor tube paints — a red of your choice, yellow, ultramarine blue and burnt siena; two brushes — a #8 round and a 1” flat; and watercolor paper — 140# preferred. Kluender will have some supplies available to try at the first class to help beginners.
Registration can be done at the Steeple Center. Contact Cheryl at 651-344-8475 or Cheryl.firstname.lastname@example.org.
