Casablanca is considered one of the greatest films of all time, which is why the Rosemount Area Arts Council chose to show the movie at its first Classic Movie Night. The film, starring Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart, will be shown at 7:30 p.m. March 8 at the Steeple Center, 14375 S. Robert Tr.
Event planner Ted Hammond said they chose Casablanca because it is considered one of the best films all time.
“We picked the classic of all classics,” said Hammond.
A film buff, Hammond said he appreciates Casablanca because the film isn’t predictable. He added that it’s a wonderful film about romance and values. Considered one of the most romantic films of all time, Hammond said the event would make a good date night for couples.
So far Hammond said he has received a lot of good feedback and he hopes the event will be a success. In addition to showing the film, RAAC has partnered with Rudy’s Red Eye Grill to offer discounts on dinner. Hammond suggested making reservation a head of time for dinner.
Hammond said RAAC has made it a focus to help the business community. By partnering with Rudy’s, the group hopes to help that specific business. RAAC also has partnered with Celts Irish Pub for their Bluegrass Americana Family Nights.
The showing of Casablanca will test the waters to see if there is interest in a series of classic movie offerings through RAAC. If things go well, Hammond said they hope to plan more Classic Movie Nights. He said he will take audience input after Casablanca to see what people are interested in seeing.
“We have a really neat opportunity to listen to what the audience wants,” said Hammond.
Movie tickets cost $5. Tickets are available at Rudy’s and the Front Porch. Additionally they are available at www.rosemountarts.com.
