Fish frys start this week and Freedom Weekend puts the spotlight on human trafficking
February 14
Photography exhibit at Rosemount UMC
The Rosemount United Methodist Church Gallery presents The Shrine of the Stations of the Cross, a exhibition of photographs by Dave Kitchel. While traveling in San Luis, Colorado, Dave was inspired to capture images of Huberto Maesta's life sized bronze statues depicting Christ's last hours. The exhibit opened Feb. 13 and will run through April 14. The gallery is open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday 8 a.m. to noon and during all scheduled evening activities.
February 15
VFW Lent Dinner
The Rosemount VFW Post 9433 invites veterans and guests to their Lent season Walleye dinners from 5 to 8 p.m. Fridays at 2625 120th St. W. The post will serve Walleye on Fridays from through March 29. The meal will include fish, potato, vegetable and choice of soup or salad. For more information call 651-423-9938.
Feb. 16 &17
Freedom Weekend
Freedom Weekend is a two day event to abolish human trafficking through education and impact opportunities February 16 and 17.
The event will begin with the Freedom Forum from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. February 16 at Hosanna! Church in Lakeville. Freedom Weekend will continue with A Day in the Life of A Sex Trafficking Victim at 9:30 a.m. at International Outreach Church, in Burnsville. Lastly Community of Hope Church in Rosemount will show the film Nefarious from 6 to 9 p.m. at 14401 Biscayne Ave. W. Nefarious, Merchant of Souls, is an award winning documentary that exposes disturbing trends in modern sex slavery.
February 18
Blood drive at St. Joes
There will be a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Feb. 18 at Church of St. Joseph, 13900 Biscayne Ave. For more information and to make an appointment to donate, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
February 19
Author Steven Derfler
Author and archaeologist Steven Derfler will discuss his book Israel’s Pharaoh at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Robert Trail Library. The event is free and open to the public. The Rosemount Area Arts Council is co-sponsoring the event.
Wine and canvas night
Moms and Neighbors will host a ladies night out from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at Fireside. Paint your own canvas and enjoy some wine. It’s like paint by numbers for adults. Cost is $35 per person. Pre-register & pay at www.wineandcanvas.com/wine-and-canvas-calendar-minneapolis-mn.html.
