Dakota County looking for input on trail alignment through Spring Lake ParkFour mile section of trail will go through Spring Lake Park Reserve
Dakota County is looking for community input on the alignment of a four-mile section of the Mississippi River Regional Trail that is being planned through Spring Lake Park Reserve.
The public is invited to an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Schaar’s Bluff Gathering Center, 8395 127th St. E., to hear about and offer opinions on various alignment options. Suggestions will help the county compare the benefits and shortcomings of each route, address public concerns or desires and ultimately recommend a preferred alignment to the Dakota County Board.
When completed in 2015, the Mississippi River Regional Trail will stretch 27 miles from St. Paul to Hastings. It will be part of a 3,000-mile trail that will connect the Mississippi River’s headwaters at Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico.
