Positions open on city's commissionsThe city is taking applications for the planning, parks and recreation and utility commissions.
The city of Rosemount is seeking residents to serve as members on city advisory commissions. There are two openings each on the planning and parks and recreation commissions and one opening on the utility commissions. The city council will interview candidates and make appointments.
All commission terms begin April 1, 2013. Regular meeting dates of the month are:
• Planning commission: 6:30 p.m. on second and fourth Tuesdays
• Parks and recreation commission: 7 p.m. on fourth Monday
• Utility commission: 5:30 p.m. on Monday following the first regular city council meeting
The planning commission is composed of five members. It is required by state law to prepare or amend a comprehensive plan for the City; prepare or amend the zoning and subdivision regulation ordinances; and review and act on all development proposals in the city according to the authority and procedures set forth in the zoning and subdivision regulations. The commission must also review the five-year capital improvement program for compliance with the adopted plans and submit its recommendations to the city council.
The parks and recreation commission recommends policies and actions to create and operate Rosemount’s park system and recreational programs.
The utility commission supervises staff activity to operate Rosemount’s publicly owned water, sanitary sewer and storm water utilities.
Residents interested in serving on a commission may pick up an application at city hall. Commission application forms are also available at the city’s website – www.ci.rosemount.mn.us — in the What’s New section. Applications are due by Feb. 12.
