Nicholas David Mrozinski became a star on the recently completed season of The Voice, but he clearly hasn't forgotten where he came from.
The Eagan native, a former student at Rosemount's St. Joseph school, came to town Jan. 17 to visit the school and talk with the students and other community members who formed a kind of fan club during his run on the NBC singing competition.
St. Joseph principal Tom Joseph declared Thursday Nicholas David Mrozinski Day at St. Joseph, and Father Paul Jarvis presented Mrozinski with a piece of the old St. Joseph School, where he graduated from eighth grade. Mrozinski also answered questions from students and sang the praises of St. Joseph as the place that helped give him a strong foundation. Then, he sang three songs on his own and performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" with a choir of students.
