Six undefeated wrestlers helped Rosemount place third as a team at Saturday’s Centennial Duals.
The Irish opened with a 40-12 win over Champlin Park, then lost 32-26 to host Centennial before defeating Wabasha-Kellogg 46-21 in the third-place match. A ranked Simley team defeated Centennial in the championship.
“It was a very good day for us. We won a lot more close matches than we have in the past,” Rosemount coach Brett Larson said. “Centennial was a solid team with three or four ranked wrestlers, so we felt pretty good about that match.”
Jake Baker, Dan Rosa, Connor Hagen, Austin Swanson, Grant Jackson and Sam Moeller all went unbeaten for the Irish. Rosa, ranked seventh in the state at 120 pounds, improved his record to 21-2, and Moeller, ranked sixth at 170 pounds, improved to 17-4.
The Irish are back in action Saturday at the Eastview Invitational.
