The start of the winter season means Dakota County parks are taking registrations for reservations and selling passes for cross country skiing..
A cross country ski pass is required for all skiers 18 and older on Dakota County trails. The ski pass is required for country ski and ski skating trails in Dakota County but it is not required for the Lone rock Trail in UMore Park in Rosemount. Funds generated by the passes help to maintain the trails.
Ski passes are available on online. A daily pass is $5. A season pass is is $20. They can also be purchased in person at the Western Service Center in Apple Valley or at the visitors’ Center at Lebanon Hills Park in Eagan.
Pay boxes are also available at the Holland Lake Trailhead in Lebanon Hills Regional Park and at Schaar’s Bluff Trailhead in Spring Lake Park Reserve. No attendant is on duty, so exact cash or check payment is necessary. Checks should be made payable to Dakota County Parks.
The shelters at Dakota County Parks can be reserved for meetings and spring and summer picnics.
Information on availability, payment and cancellation polices is on the Dakota County Parks web site:?co.dakota.mn.us/ parks/gatherings/picnics.
