City's outdoor skating rinks open

Central Park, Jaycee Park, Bloomfield Park and Rosemount Middle School have rinks and warming houses open for the public.

The city’s four outdoor ice skating rinks opened Dec. 22.

The rinks are located at Central Park, Jaycee Park, Bloomfield Park and Rosemount Middle School. Each rink has a warming house. Warming house hours are Monday through Friday 4 to 9 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 9 p.m.

The warming houses close if the temperature dips below -10 degrees Fahrenheit; the windchill reaches -25 degrees Fahrenheit.; or snow accumulates and rinks have not been cleared by city maintenance crews.

The city generally maintains the rinks until mid-February but will close them early due to warm weather.

Rink rules are posted in each warming house. Playing open hockey or shooting pucks is allowed at Central, Bloomfield and Jaycee rinks. At the RMS rink only tennis ball are allowed.

Call the city’s information line to check and see if the rinks are open at 651-322-6020.
