Twenty-one turnovers and 32-percent shooting proved too much for Rosemount to overcome in a 58-50 South Suburban Conference loss at Prior Lake last Tuesday.
With their second straight loss, the Irish slipped to 3-5 overall. They hosted Lakeville South Friday and are back on the court tonight at the Grand Rapids Invitational.
“The effort is there and that’s always something you are looking for as a coach. We just need to make better decisions down the stretch, make a few more shots and we will start to come out on the other side of these close games,” Rosemount coach Chris Orr said. “In the end Prior Lake made the shots and the plays to get the win. We struggled again with our shooting, mostly because we took 15 of what I would call bad shots and add 20 turnovers and that’s hard to overcome.”
Hannah Grim, Ellie Vraa and Meghan Schuster each scored 10 points to pace the Irish. Schuster grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, Vraa hauled in six and Grim grabbed four steals.
Hannah Halterman added eight points and five rebounds and Kaylie Hanson once again led the team in assists with six.
The Irish were just 11 of 40 from two-point range, but kept the game close by making 6 of 13 shots from behind the three-point arc. Grim and Halterman each canned a pair of threes.
