Gymnastics: Schlie, McCoy lead Irish past Eastview

A pair of varsity newcomers continued to make a big impact for the Rosemount gymnastics team last Tuesday.
Seventh-graders Josey Schlie and Shannon McCoy finished 1-2 in the all-around for the Irish in a 137.575-126.975 South Suburban Conference win over the Lightning at Eastview High School.
Schlie won all four events and took the all-around competition for the second meet in a row, improving her total score to 36.45. She led the Irish’s strong team showing in the vault with a meet-best 9.4, scored a 9.275 in the floor exercise, won the beam with a 9.15 and added an 8.625 in the uneven bars.
McCoy placed third in the vault (9.025), bars (8.0) and beam and fifth in the floor exercise in scoring a 33.825 in the all-around.
Teammate Abby Nelson was third with an all-around score of 33.525. She placed second in the beam and floor, fourth in the bars and fifth in the vault.
Meghan Creese added a runner-up score of 9.35 in the vault and a fourth-place finish in the beam and Rachel Schow was fourth in the floor exercise.
The Irish are back in action tomorrow night when they host Farmington.
