No one was injured, but Dakota County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man who allegedly fired shots at a hunter at Spring Lake Park.
According to the sheriff’s department, the incident started around 2:30 p.m. Thursday as a dispute between hunters. The caller told deputies a hunter was confronted angrily by another hunter as he was placing his decoys in the water. The incident escalated, and ended with one individual firing his shotgun at the other as he stood in the water. The individual who was fired at and the witness both said pellets hit the side of the boat but no person was hit.
Dakota County deputies, State Troopers and conservation officers from the Department of Natural Resources conducted a search for the shooter. They found the suspect around 3:45 p.m. on an island near where the incident occurred. He was identified by the victim and taken to the Dakota County Jail for processing.
