A fight between a Rosemount man and his girlfriend apparently escalated earlier this month until it involved a brick, a window and a nasty bump on the head.
Rosemount police responded around 11 p.m. Nov. 10 to what was originally a report of a gunshot. They learned en route that someone had thrown a brick through the window of a Rosemount home.
According to a complaint filed last week in the Dakota County Attorney’s office, the woman on the receiving end of the brick was sitting on the couch with friends when the incident happened. Witnesses told police the brick came through the window and hit the woman on the head. She fell off the couch and appeared to be unconscious.
The woman had a wound just above her left eye and a large bump on her head when police arrived.
The woman told police she believed her boyfriend, 24-year-old Eric Jeffrey Campeau, had thrown the brick. One of the witnesses saw a car that looked like Campeau’s driving away. She said Campeau has assaulted her in the past.
Police officers found Campeau later that night at the home he shares with his girlfriend and another individual. There was a pile of bricks near his car similar to the one thrown through the window.
According to the complaint, Campeau told police he’d gotten into an argument with his girlfriend about a relationship she had with another man. He denied responsibility for her injuries.
If convicted on a charge of criminal damage to property, Campeau could face up to five years in jail and fines of up to $10,000.
