The Metropolitan Council will hold a public hearing to inform the public about and accept comments on its Draft Facility Plan for the Burnsville Interceptor Improvements Project (MCES Project No. 809058). The Draft Facility Plan for this project, prepared by the Metropolitan Council’s Environmental Services Division (MCES), outlines alternatives studied and the resulting recommendations for improving the Burnsville Interceptor, the regional sanitary sewer that serves the cities of Burnsville and Savage and a portion of Lakeville.

The interceptor improvements would be scheduled for late 2013 and 2014. They would include installing linings inside approximately 5 miles of the existing sanitary sewer and rehabilitating maintenance holes as needed. The segment of the Burnsville Interceptor to be improved is approximately one-half to 1 mile south of the Minnesota River, and extends from Interstate 35W in Burnsville to approximately 1 mile east of Highway 77 (Cedar Ave.) in Eagan. The rehabilitation will serve to maintain and improve the integrity of these regional sanitary sewer facilities, reduce infiltration and inflow, and improve system reliability.
