For schools, mixed results on new state evaluationHalf of Rosemount-area schools improved from baseline result

Just under half of schools in Independent School District 196 and half of the schools in and around Rosemount have improved their performance on the Minnesota Department of Education’s new Multiple Measurement Ratings from a baseline established earlier this year.
The department of education released the results of the 2012 MMR, which takes the place of federal No Child Left Behind ratings, last week. The new system awards schools points in the areas of proficiency, growth, graduation rate and efforts to reduce the achievement gap among student subgroups based on race, economic factors and need for special education services. Schools earn points based on their performance compared to other schools in the state.
Academic performance is based on students’ scores on the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment exam.
Rosemount Elementary School had the biggest increase among Rosemount area schools, going from 59.83 percent of possible MMR points on the baseline measurement to 69.45 percent in the 2012 measurement. Parkview Elementary School increased from 53.37 percent to 62.19 percent and Rosemount Middle School increased from 61.38 percent to 65.09 percent.
Rosemount and Parkview elementary schools was recognized as a celebration eligible school, identifying it as one of the highest performing 15 to 25 percent of the state’s Title I schools.
Rosemount High School received fewer points in the 2012 measure, dropping from 91.13 percent to 88.16 percent, but was still the top-scoring four-year high school in the district. Shannon Park Elementary dropped from 82.14 percent to 80.54 percent and Red Pine Elementary dropped from 65.42 percent to 57.37 percent.
