Artist Amie Kieffer will host a show in Rosemount this weekend

Since Amie Kieffer was a little girl she has always loved art. And even when she was quite little she showed some talent. So when she went to college she decided to double major in studio art and art history at the University of St. Thomas.

She graduated in 2008 and since has tried to make a career out of creating art, especially painting and drawing. Last year she started her own company, AK Artistic Productions. Through the company, she designs logos, makes cartoons, illustrates and more.

“I don’t like to limit myself,” said Kieffer about her business.

Kieffer also teaches art part-time to first through eighth graders at Ave Maria Academy in Maple Grove, and she offers small group lessons to students of all ages.

While it’s not always easy, Kieffer said she’s fortunate to be able to do what she loves for a living.

“I really do enjoy it and it’s a blessing to be able to do it,” said Kieffer.

As an artist, Kieffer said she sometimes surprises herself with the things she does and she likes seeing herself improve. Kieffer said she also enjoys seeing people react to her pieces.

“I like seeing that my art has a positive impact on other people,” said Kieffer.

Over the last year she has created dozens of pieces and on Aug. 17 and 18 Kieffer will host a show of her original works. The show and sale will run from 4 to 8 p.m. both days.

The show will be held at her parents’ Rosemount house at 3245 145th St. W. Kieffer said her mom’s beautiful gardens are the perfect setting for her first professional art show.

The art show and sale will feature more than 50 works, including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings. She will also have cards available. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.

Kieffer welcomed the public to come out and have a good time.
