Community of Hope Church will honor those who serve and protect during both of their services July 1.
An event the church is calling Valor Sunday will celebrate, honor and thank men and women who serve their fellow people, said executive pastor Jason Lovold.
Lovold said Community of Hope invites any military, police, fire or EMT personnel and their families to the July 1 services. Community of Hope holds services at 9 and 10:45 a.m. Each service will run about an hour.
During the services a Boy Scout Troop will present the American Flag, Army Chaplain Jeff Dexter will preach and they will pray with those being honored. Each person who serves will receive a Bible reflecting their type of service to the community.
This is the first time Community of Hope has held Valor Sunday and Lovold hopes people will come out for the event. Lovold said the Community of Hope congregation has quite a few people who serve in different capacities and he feels it’s important to recognize their sacrifices.
“We are really excited about it,” said Lovold.
