A Rosemount woman was arrested June 21 for driving while impaired.
A police officer responded to a call about a car driving all over the road and up on a curb, near County Road 42 and Diamond Path found the woman at her home.
According to a criminal complaint filed in the Dakota County Attorney’s office last week, when the officer arrived a woman matching the owner’s description, was standing outside, holding a 3-year-old child.
The woman was 30-year-old Theresa Anne Brown. As the officer spoke with Brown, she said that she did not know why anyone would call about her driving. The officer noticed that Brown was having a hard time keeping her balance, and at times, was slurring her words. Brown failed the field sobriety tests she was given and told the officer that she had taken two medications. She gave one of her prescription bottles to the officer. The bottle should have had close to 30 pills, but it only had 11 of the prescription pills and there were three types of pills in the bottle.
The Dakota County Attorney’s office has charged Brown with third degree driving while impaired and could face up to one year in prison and a $3,000 fine. Brown has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance. If convicted Brown could face five years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
