Relay for Life raises money and hope

Members of Rosemount's American Legion and VFW posts present the colors as part of the Relay for Life opening ceremony.
The Rosemount Relay for Life was held Friday night at Irish Stadium. Hundreds gathered for the overnight walk that raises money for the American Cancer Society.
Over the years Rosemount's Relay for Life events have raised nearly a million dollars for ACS.The ACS uses funds to support cancer treatment and research.
This year's event had a sad undertone as its Honorary Survivor, Jeff Payette, lost his battle with Esophageal cancer on June 10. His oldest son and caregiver Joshua Payette gave a poignant speech in his absence which received a standing ovation.
