Redesigned RAAC logo has a story

Greta Kotz wanted to keep Celtic feel to the Rosemount Area Arts Council logo, but she also wanted to add a little flair. The design student came up with a couple mock ups but had one in mind. Fortunately, the RAAC board liked it as well.
“It was the initial design I wanted them to go with,” said Kotz.
The RAAC board chose Kotz, a student at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, to design the organization’s new logo. RAAC member John Loch said the board decided it was time to revamp its logo. The original logo was created by a RAAC member and Loch said they decided it was time to go with something new.
“We wanted something more artistic and that told the story about what RAAC is about,” said Loch.
The logo consists of four hearts in red, green, yellow and blue. The hearts are connected by multi-color lines and RAAC sits in the center.
While simple, Loch said the logo has significance. The hearts represent love of arts and community. Having RAAC in the center depicts community building through the arts is at the center of the organization. Diversity is represented through the four colors. The connecting lines represent connectedness and lastly the city’s Irish roots are depicted through the Celtic Knot design.
The new logo figures prominently on RAAC’s new website, rosemountarts.com. Loch said he believes the new logo better represents the organization.
