Long time Inver Grove Heights City Council Member Bill Klein has decided not to seek a sixth term to the Inver Grove Heights City Council but has chosen to seek a seat on the Dakota County Board of Commissioners.
“Twenty years on the Council has been a tremendous educational experience,” Klein said. “I would like to take this experience to another level and change the direction of things I feel need attention at the county level.
Klein ran for county commissioner in 2010 and lost by 775 votes.
District 4 includes much of Rosemount. It is currently represented by Nancy Schouweiler. Schouweiler is new to many Rosemount residents because of redistricting in the county.
“Being a fiscal conservative, I have been concerned about the direction the county has been going,” Klein said. “Commissioners represent cities and townships in the county which are suburban and rural in nature. The commission has, in recent years, been moving to urbanize our suburbs. Lately money has been flowing from Dakota County to the big cities and I feel that this trend should end.”
