Rosemount Rotary Club names Student of the Month
The Rotary Club of Rosemount has recognized Rosemount High School senior Alexandra McLaughlin as it April 2012 Student of the Month.
The Rotary Club of Rosemount has recognized Rosemount High School senior Alexandra McLaughlin as it April 2012 Student of the Month.
Alexandra ranks 10th in her class and has taken a number of Advanced Placement and college-level courses, but where she truly shines is in writing and English skills. She was recently recognized by the District 196 School Board as the Rosemount High School Student of the Year in English and is a Dartmouth Book Award nominee. She was also one of 13 seniors in Minnesota and 520 in the nation to receive a Certificate for Superior Writing in the 2011 National Achievement Awards in Writing sponsored by the National Council of Teachers of English.
In addition to being an outstanding student in the classroom, Alexandra is involved in speech, debate and tennis, where she was part of a team that went to the state tournament and brought home fourth place. She is also an officer in the National French Honor Society, having served as treasurer and secretary and volunteered as a tutor and with Feed My Starving Children.
Outside of school, Alexandra volunteers at Fairview Ridges Clinic in the birth center, helping new moms and babies as well as pushing the hospitality cart. She also enjoys spending time with friends and watching Cupcake Wars.
Following graduation, Alexandra intends to become a student at Macalester College in St. Paul as an English or journalism major.
