Grand openings at Lakeville and Rosemount

Grand Openings this weekend are being advertised by Enggren’s Food Market, Lakeville, and the new Satellite Bowling Lanes at Rosemount….

At Rosemount, the ultra-modern new Satellite Bowling Lanes and dining room are pictured and an ad gives details of their grand opening in this issue.

Lakeville and Rosemount can be justly proud of these new and enlarged business establishments. They are a great addition to both communities and they invite the public to visit these Grand Openings this week.

It’s gypsy time again

Regular as spring, gypsies appear about this time….

In the Connelly Trailer Park, north of Lakeville, on Highway 65, the guests left with a $14.50 propane tank, last week.

Dakota County Deputy Sheriff Julio Santiago caught up with them at the Stagecoach Inn, west of Savage, where they admitted “forgetting” they borrowed the tank.

In Rosemount, John Balzer, retired rail worker, reported two “Indian girls from Oklahoma,” believed to be gypsies, took $35 from his pockets, Tuesday of this week.

The victim told officers the girls “waved their hands,” possibly hypnotizing the man. They left in a 2-tone blue Rambler.

Lion’s charter night, success at Rosemount

The Rosemount Lions club began its first year of operation officially Monday evening with their Charter Night Banquet and program with a good attendance.

About 130 people attended this opening of a service organization for the Rosemount community....

Introduction of officers who are: Roy Almquist, president; Leo J. Fluegel, vice president; Lauris J. Parker, second vice president; Richard Vorwerk, third vice president; Tom Corrigan, treasurer; Harold Almquist, secretary; James Ahern, trail twister; Dr. Robert Erickson, Lion tamer; Directors, Raymond King, Paul Vorwerk, Leon Martin, Dr. Wesley Anderson....

The dinner was held in the Rosemount High School Auditorium with the school lunch cooks in charge.

Chairman for the Charter Night affair was H.C. Hanson....

“Plain People” to be given at Rich Valley

“Plain People,” a comedy written by G.L. Wind, will be given by the St. John’s Walther League of Rich Valley on the evenings of May 14 and 16. The play is a comedy containing a good lesson, taught in a humorous striking way. The cast is composed of the following: Jerry Thompson: Carl Rechtzigel; Mrs. Gaffey: Ethel Franzmeier; Helen Thompson: Helen Franzmeier; George Thompson: Hugo Groth; Jane Thompson: Christine Wachter; Jennie Brown: Linda Moll; Jimmy Brown: Wilbur Franzmeier; Tom Prince: Harold Harrisberger; Joan Thompson: Henrietta Boche; Count Coletti: Arthur Volkert.

Coates and Rich Valley

Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Englert and Miss Christine Wachter were St. Paul visitors on Thursday.

Guests at the Theodore Volkert home Sunday were Mrs. Ruby Groth and children and Harold Horrisberger.

Louise Franzmeier of St. Paul was an overnight guest at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Franzmeier, on Saturday evening.

The general public is invited to attend the play, “Plain People,” given by the St. John’s Walther League on the evenings of May 14 and 16 at the St. John’s Lutheran school.

Rosemount news

Sargeant and Mrs. C. Ficker and daughter of Fort Snelling were guests at the Al Fosler home Sunday.

Mrs. A.J. Strese was taken to the University hospital on Thursday for treatment.

Mrs. John Uhl was operated on for goiter at St. Mary’s hospital Wednesday.

Ralph Kraff was taken to the hospital Sunday for treatment.

Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Moeller, Mrs. Julius Strese, Mrs. Gus Polenske, Mrs. Becker, Edward and Violet Strese and Rev. Frank Wilson called on Mrs. A.J. Strese at the hospital, Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Joe McCarthy of Castle Rock were guests at the Ralph Gilman home, Sunday.
