Mayor and council member appointed to national policymaking committeesMayor Bill Droste and council member Jeff Weisensel will serve on National League of Cities committees
Rosemount Mayor Bill Droste and Council member Jeff Weisensel have been appointed to policymaking groups for the National League of Cities according to a release from the city.
Mayor Droste will serve on the League’s Transportation Infrastructure & Services Policy and Advocacy Committee. The committee develops the league’s federal policy positions on issues involving transportation. Subject areas include planning, funding, safety and security of public transit, streets and highways, aviation, railroads, and ports. Droste serves as Vice Chair of the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority.
Weisensel will serve on the league’s community and economic development policy and advocacy committee. That committee is responsible for
developing policy positions on issues involving housing, community and economic development, land use, recreation and parks, historic preservation, and international competitiveness. Weisensel works on many of the same issues in his role as chair of the Rosemount Port Authority, the city's economic development authority.
Along with working on policy for the national group, Droste and Weisensel will work as advocates for cities on the issues with Congress and at home.
