School notes

RHS literary magazine earns award and nine students were named to the Concordia College Honor band.

Shadows, Rosemount High School’s student literary and arts magazine, has received an Excellent rating from the National Council of Teachers of English Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literacy Magazines.

The recognition was for the 2011 edition of Shadows, subtitled Chains.

Bethany Mollman and Emily Nelson were student editors for the 2011 edition of Shadows. Dan Kirkham was the faculty advisor.

Nine named to honor band

Nine Rosemount High School students have been named to the Concordia College Honor Band.

Band members are selected from a six-state area. They will participate in a weekend of music March 30-April 1 at Concordia.

RHS?students selected for the band are:?Brandon Chapman, oboe; Jessie Cox, flute; Austin Gohman, trombone; Andrew Johnson, bass trombone; Blake Kaner, trombone; Brittany Majeski, alto saxophone; Kaitlyn Mann, clarinet; Matthew Strom, euphonium; and Olivia Taylor, clarinet.
