Businesses will expand liquor operations
MGM Wine and Spirits will move, and Tops Pizza will serve alcohol on outdoor patioBy: Emily Zimmer, Rosemount Town Pages
Two Rosemount establishments will expand their businesses in 2012. After holding public hearings, the Rosemount City Council approved new liquor licenses for MGM Liquor and Tops Pizza during their meeting Monday night.
MGM Wine and Spirts plans to move its operation from the Rosemount Crossing location to the former Shenanigan’s Liquor Store site at 15047 Crestone Ave.
Owner Mike Maglich told the city council the former Shenanigan’s site is larger than their current location and will allow the store to provide a wider selection of products. Maglich said the company will take a few weeks to do some remodeling and hopes to open in the new location in early spring.
Shenanigan’s closed in early January.
The council also approved an amended liquor license for TOPS Pizza and Hoagies. The amended license will allow the restaurant to serve alcoholic beverages on a patio it installed last summer. While the patio was originally built as a smoking patio, the owners plan to add seating. TOPS is owned by Markos Chouliaris.
City council member Kim Shoe-Corrigan said it was nice to see businesses in the community improving. Both actions passed unanimously.
