Winless Burnsville used its best offensive performance of the season to forge a 5-5 tie with Rosemount Saturday at the Rosemount Community Center.

The Blaze, who entered with a record of 0-6-1, hadn’t scored more than two goals in any of their first seven games before taking on Rosemount. The Irish matched the offensive output thanks to a pair of goals from forward Kristin Reuter in her first game back after missing two weeks with a back injury.

“The girls have seen the lineup change on a nightly basis as we have battled the injury bug, but we are competing hard,” Rosemount coach Josh Hoekstra said.

Taylor Sampson, Kendra Goodrich and Lauren Riley each added single goals as the Irish moved to 3-4-2.

Goaltender Lauren Topor preserved the tie by stopping 43 Burnsville shots.

“For a ninth-grader, she has been incredibly composed,”?Hoekstra said. “She is really playing well.”

The Irish ended a two-game slide with a 6-1 South Suburban Conference rout of Bloomington Kennedy at home last Tuesday.

Shaniah Anderson opened the scoring with a goal 2:56 into the first, then assisted on the first of a season-high four goals by Sampson. The senior scored her second goal late in the first period to make it 3-0, then tacked on single goals in the second and third (assist to Riley). Anderson added another goal in the third on an assist from Goodrich.

“It was really good to see Taylor break out and have a dominating game,” Sampson said.

Topor once again got the start in goal and stopped 24 of 25 Kennedy shots.

The Irish traveled to 14th-ranked Lakeville South Tuesday night and are back in action tonight when they head north to take on Park of Cottage Grove.
