Girls basketball: No. 8 Edina holds Irish in checkThe Irish were held to six second-half points in a 77-27 loss
After blowing by a Minneapolis North team that had lost 24 of its previous 26 games last Saturday, Rosemount had some trouble adjusting against a more talented Edina team on Tuesday.
The Hornets, coming off an 18-10 season and ranked eighth in Class 4A, sprinted to a 41-21 halftime advantage and held the Irish to six second-half points in a 77-27 victory.
Rosemount got off just 33 shots — and made 12 — in 36 minutes of play. Sophomore guard Hannah Grim accounted for over 70 percent of the team’s points, making three three-pointers on her way to 19 points. She also had three of the team’s four steals.
The young Irish (1-2) continued to struggle taking care of the ball. They committed 25 turnovers, upping their three-game total to 70.
The team is back in action tomorrow night when it hosts Farmington at Irish Gym.
