History book club starting up Oct. 27

New book club will explore history through books

As people strolled through the checkout line at the Robert Trail Library book sale this past spring, John Loch took note of how many people were purchasing books regarding history. Turns out, quite a few people have an interest in the past.

So Loch, the vice president of the Rosemount Area Historical Society, thought it would be great to start a history book club at the library. He brought it up to library staff and they thought it would be a good thing, too.

“I think it’s a good marriage. We can get more people reading and get people into the library,” said Loch.

The history book club will hold an organizational meeting Oct. 27 to get started. The club is open to anyone who wants to participate. During the first meeting the club will likely choose a first book and figure out details for the club.

Loch hopes interested folks will turn out at the meeting. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the library, 14395 S. Robert Trail.
