Sixth-ranked (Class 2A) Rosemount finished second behind third-ranked Minnetonka in a battle of top-10 teams last Saturday at the 10-team Marauder Invite in St. Paul.
The Irish claimed two of the meet’s first three events, starting with Megan Wenman’s winning swim in the 200 freestyle. Her 1:58.97 clocking was a meet record.
Olivia Johnston followed with a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley. Johnston added a second-place finish in the 100 breaststroke.
The Irish placed second in all three relays. The foursome of Beth Wenman, Katrina Orthmann, Teija Normandeau and Johnston started the meet by earning runner-up honors in the 200 medley relay.
Normandeau and Megan Wenman then joined Maddy Ryan and Claire Tolan for a second-place showing in the 200 freestyle relay. Ryan, Johnston, Megan Wenman and Elyse Griffith closed out the meet by placing second in the 400 freestyle relay.
The Irish will put their perfect 5-0 dual meet record on the line tonight when they travel to Kenwood Trail Middle School to take on Lakeville North.
