The Rosemount volleyball team saw some of the improvement it’s been looking for during back-to-back wins last week.
The Irish ended a four-game losing streak by hanging on for a five-set victory at Bloomington Kennedy last Tuesday. They won Game 1 by a score of 25-17, and then lost the next game 15-25 before moving back ahead with a 25-22 decision in Game 3. The hosts squared the match back up with a 25-19 win in Game 4, but the Irish held on with a 15-11 triumph in Game 5.
“We played well, but continue to struggle with our consistency,” Rosemount coach Smokey Vitek said. “We give up too many easy points with missed serves, hitting errors, bad passes and net fouls. We are continuing to work on reducing those.”
Rosemount reduced those errors and the scores showed in last Thursday’s 25-17, 25-13, 25-17 sweep of Hastings in a non-conference match at Irish Gym.
“We passed consistently, served aggressively and hit smart,” Vitek said. “We were also very consistent with our intensity and focus throughout the match. By doing this we never let Hastings get into a rhythm.”
The Irish (7-6, 1-4) are back in action tonight at sixth-ranked (Class 3A) Eagan.
